GM/SCR Reviews the situation arising out of impending ‘Thane’ Cyclone – SCR Gears up


Shri G.N.Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a high level Review Meeting with senior officers at Rail Nilayam today, i.e., 29th December, 2011 o­n the precautionary measures to be taken in the wake of impending Thane Cyclone.The GM instructed all the officers and staff at various levels to be o­n high alert and keep a close watch o­n the progress of the Cyclone and to be ready to tackle any emergency situation.


An Emergency Control Room has been opened at Central Control at Rail Nilayam, South Central Railway Headquarters, which will be manned round-the-clock by Senior Officers, who will be monitoring the field conditions closely for appropriate intervention o­n train movements as per need.The Control Rooms at Vijayawada, Guntakal and Guntur will also be closely monitoring the situation arising out of the Cyclone and all necessary precautionary measures are put in place.Senior Officers of Vijayawada Division will camp at Nellore to continuously assess the ground situation and based o­n the various inputs, suitable steps will be initiated keeping in view the safety of trains.
