ShriM. Sudheer Kumar, Train Lighting Helper, Electrical Department, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railwayfound a jewelry box in D-4 Coach of Pinakini Express while he was attending the empty rake of the train at the Coaching Depot / Vijayawada recently. When he opened the jewelry box, to his surprise, he foundoneNecklace, one Bracelet with stones, one Ring with stones and one Pagadala Bracelet with dollar, valuing to approximately Rs. 2,80, 000/-. Shri Sudheer Kumar, promptly handed over the jewelries to Government Railway Police office, Vijayawada on the same day.The GRP, in turn, deposited the jewelry to be under the custody of Metropoliton Magistrate, Railways, Vijayawada duly registering a case.
Subsequently, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, received a complaint from Smt. S.V.L Prabhavathi, Eluru that she had lost her jewelry box with the jewelriesmentioned while she was traveling from Nellore to Vijayawada by Pinakini Intercity Express along with her 5 relatives. She also sent the copy of the complaint to Sub-Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Vijayawada Railway Station and Sub-Inspector, Government Railway Police, Vijayawada Railway Station with intimation to Additional General Manager, South Central Railway.
.On enquiry, it was found that due her carelessness, Smt Prabhavti left behind the jewelry box in the compartment and got down. on recovery of the missing jewelries, Shri R. Vijaya Mohan,Additional General Manager informed the complainant Smt. Prabhavati to go to Vijayawada immediately with her relatives to identify the missing jewelries to take possession of the same.
Shri R. Vijaya Mohan, Additional General Manager, South Central Railway has also asked Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada to suitably reward Shri Sudheer Kumar in recognition of his commendable act of honesty.
