An imposter, posing as Police Constable and extorting money from train passengers, was nabbed by Railway Protection Force personnel (RPF) during a decoy check at Shankarpalli Station on 10th August, 2011. The decoy check was conducted by RPF personnel based on complaints from passengers regarding extortion of money and snatching of Mobile Phones from passengers on Shankarpalli-Nagulapalli section.
The decoy team consisted of three RPF Personnel under the leadership of Shri Mathin, Sub Inspector/ RPF/ Vikarabad Railway Station. Disguising themselves as train passengers with luggage, the decoy team members were sitting on Platform No.1 of Shankarpalli Railway Station in the early hours on 10thAugust, 2011. At about 05 30 hrs, on arrival of Aurangabad-Hyderabad Passenger train, the decoy team noticed a person extorting money from the passengers sitting on the platform, posing himself as Police Constable. Then, the imposter approached the decoy team also and asked them to show their tickets. When they said that they did not have tickets, the imposter demanded money from them to let them off. Immediately, the decoy team nabbed the imposter.
On interrogation, the imposter revealed his name as Begari Ganesh, 31 years, from Parvedha Village, Shankarpalli Mandal. He was handed over to Government Railway Police, Vikarabad and a criminal case was registered against him.
