South Central Railway organized a Health Education Programme in connection with observation of “WORLD RABIES DAY” today i.e. 28.09.2011, at Sanchalan Bhavan,the head quarters office of Secunderabad Division of S.C.Railway.
Dr.S.K.Sharma, Chief Medical Director, South Central Railway, the Chief Guest on the occasion, in his Key Note address enlightened the participants the significance of World Rabies Day.He also highlighted the work done by the railway hospitals in providing treatment for Rabies at all the Hospitals and Health Units and asked theemployees and their families to avail the same. He later released a POSTER on WORLD RABIES DAY on this occasion.
Shri.Sanjive Roy, Divisional Railway Manager Secunderabad Division, the Guest of Honour,appreciated the initiative taken by Medical Department to bring awareness among railway population about Health promotion.In this occasion, he appreciated the importance in extending the knowledge aboutRabies in the context of Dog Menace existing in the city.
Dr.M.V.Ramana Reddy, Chief Medical Superintendent, Secunderabad Division in his Welcome Address, stressed the importance of the occasion and recalled the invention of Rabies Vaccine by Sir.Louis Pasteur, a French Chemist and Microbiologist. He reminded that World Rabies Day is observed in commemoration of this great scientist.
Dr.G.Sampath, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Institute of Preventive Medicine, Public Health Labs & Food, Narayanaguda, Hyderabad was the Guest Speaker on this occasion.He delivered a comprehensive health lecture assisted by a Power Point Presentation about the Rabies, its prevention, cure and importance of immediate medical attention which was interspersed both in Telugu and Hindi impressing the participants.
