In view of the ensuing Deewali festive season, South Central Railway makes an appeal to all it’s passengers /customers not to carry inflammable substances/fire crackers in trains or in Railway premises.
Carrying of such items in trains or in stations poses grave threat to passenger safety and create a highly unsafe situation for all the passengers around. Any unintentional pressure applied on fire crackers or a small spark can lead to a big mishap with dire consequences. Hence, South Central Railway requests all rail users not to carry with them or book under luggage / parcel any inflammable articles like Gas Cylinder, Petrol / Diesel / Kerosene, Stoves, Lantern, Match boxes / Cigarette lighters, and any detonating substances including fire crackers.
As per section 67, 154, 164 and 165 of the Railways Act 1989, carrying inflammable and explosive articles on Railways is a punishable offence, with a punishment up to 3 years Jail or fine up to Rs. 1000/- or both, besides being liable for the loss/injury or damage caused. In the interest of Public Safety and security, South Central Railway appeals passengers to be alert and in case they find anyone carrying fire crackers or any other dangerous substances, they may inform to the nearest Railway official about the situation.Apart from checks to prevent carrying of these unsafe articles, S.C. Railway is making efforts to make people aware of the danger posed by carrying inflammables / fireworks through publicity via Media advertisements.
