A red signal is again put for the opening of The new Port station at Sambamurthy nagar. Even before the completion of 24 hrs of the opening of the new station, the authorities postponed the opening of the new Station again, without even announcement. This decision was taken as Kakinada City MLA, Dwarapudi Chandrasekhar Reddy and Central Minister Pallam Raju, spoke to SCR GM G.N. Asthana about the opening of the new station. This is not the first time for the postponement of the opening of the New station. Similarly in 2009 December only, the dates for the Opening Ceremony were fixed and postponed again at the last moment due to the pressure brought by the leaders on the SCR Officials. The same situation has reoccured on Sunday.
The new station is to be opened by December ending or January, by CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is expected to come to the District by then. With this the Station opening was postponed again. Railways are critisised for giving high importance for the restictions put forth by the leaders and putting common passengers to pressure.
Passengers who came to know that the New Port Railway Station was opened to passenger traffic, came to the new Station on Monday to board Ciracr, Seshadri and Gowthami Superfast Expresses. After coming to the Station, it was known that the trains would not stop there. With this, the frustrated public returned back.
